It is a sad day when this happens. East Greenbush is better for the information provided along with the discussions....good and bad....that has taken place on this blog. I for one will miss it. Best wishes Don in your next endeavor.
Gadfly, thank you for your contributions to our town. Wherever life takes you, may you enjoy life and remember us. I'm sure you have many pleasant memories of the good people of East Greenbush. I wish to also thank our local Police, Fire, Ambulance and DPW workers for being there in our times of need. Also, my thanks to our current Town Board and the many departments in Town Hall. Yup, I have to say it, as it has been my pleasure to know the many wonderful people who have come to be known as East Greenbush First. We were more than supporters of three people, we all put aside party affiliations and came together as one voice in our community. I don't say any of this to draw criticism, as we all make our own decisions as to how we walk through the maze of politics. I'm just a gal who has learned to appreciate people more, and am seeking to refrain from negativity as much as possible in my life. Some things happen in life that are life altering, and it changes your perspective on many things. East Greenbush, may our future be brighter for us all. Goodbye, Gadfly...
News of the GF blog "going dark" is bittersweet. On the one hand, the GF blog has been a great source of information and on the other hand a great source of misinformation. One thing is for sure, the GF blog "going dark" is the end of an era in East Greenbush.
Hey GF you guys moved away just in the knick of time because the state is looking to run a walking trail right through our neighborhood. That's right, Berkshire Drive will actually be part of the trail! An influx of strangers will be passing through on our street on foot year round. Many of us are just as upset about it as others were about the casino. Some of us may be moving out right behind you before our property values plummet. It's always something in this town. Where will we bring our complaints after you're gone? We know, not your problem. Wish us luck with this one. Enjoy!
It's easy to start a blog. Just do it and contribute to the community. We did some good things in EG. And the place is better for it. Still some folks trying to cut the corners and circumvent the law....particularly on designated Parkland. But that's second nature to some....in the genes. Have fun and good luck.
Don, of all the things in my life that I am proud of working withnyou, Dwight, Jack and so many others to effect positive change in East Greenbush ranks up at the top.
You proved that sunlight and information can drive positive change. You stood up to all manner of hassles, disinformation campaigns and flat out stupid reprisals.
The people of East Greenbush are vastly better off for your contributions.
Thanks Ray!! Those were some exciting and rewarding times. The Gadfly is still getting some surly and ignorant comments, but that just demonstrates that some important targets have been hit. Keep in touch!!
