  1. Good for JTT. It's great to see EG is setting the bar high for filling this very important position.

    1. As I understand it, Mason said he'd give it a year. And the Board is getting a head start on the hiring process. Nothing nefarious at all.

    2. Thanks, and that's good, for once, no drama in town hall...well, at least nothing like the children's circus that we're used to!

  6. You would have to be really hard up for a job with two Town Board seats up for grabs next year.

    1. I don't understand your comment. What's your angle?

    2. This isn't the original person who made the comment, but I took it as by taking the job you have no security because two new people could come in and play political games.

    3. I think that if you think that "the original person" thinks that the Reform movement has disappeared in East Greenbush, you have another think coming. We can never have a return to the machine politics which almost destroyed the Town.

  7. @9:21PM, JTT were elected for a four year term that runs until January 1, 2020. They have the majority so the person they hire is safe until then, assuming (s)he does a good job.

  8. The 2017 TB election only offers 3 possibilities: 1 or 2 people serving now will be reelcted, 1 or 2 new reform people will be elected, or 1 or 2 old guard people will will be elected. None of these possibilities will stop or hinder the work JTT have begun.
I agree with the Gadfly: the reform is alive and well. The overwhelming majority of voters who elected EG1st candidates are pleased with their accomplishments and likely to elect more independent candidates to represent them in an open and professional way. I am sure there are qualifed candidates who would be proud to serve as DPW Commissioner with this administration.

  9. Until Jack Conway became supervisor the DPW Commissioner job was an example of political patronage at its very worst. And thank goodness we no longer have Ginny O'Brien to tell us how "rigorous" the selection process was !!

  10. 5:50AM. You are absolutely on target. It's also important to note the strong contributions of Councipersons Tina Tierney and Tom Grant. It takes three anti political patronage votes to make a difference. The people of East Greenbush made a smart choice by electing the entire ticket of Conway, Tierney and Grant.

  11. For the first time decades the good people of East Greenbush can have confidence in their town government. That, all by itself, is an incredible accomplishment.

I still think Jack, Tom and Tina need to exert more direction of over other town committees, , boards and department heads. I think goals need to be set , performance measured.

But, all in all, Jack, Tom and Tina justify every single vote that was cast for them. Good people doing good things. Wonderful.

  12. 6:06 AM. There is always room for improvement, but I like the way Jack, Tom and Tina have been asking questions and demanding answers at town board meetings from the town engineer and the dpw director. A lot of our tax dollars are spent on those departments. I'm sure Jack, Tom and Tina will keep getting the answers.
