Et Tu, Brute?

It's long been said that politics in East Greenbush is a "blood sport."  Certainly not bean-bags.  We'll probably know tonight who the local Brutus is.  Cheered on by the local and County Republican mucky-mucks, including the County Executive.  The irony is that this event tonight was supposed to be the coronation of Candidate Langley for a second term.  Witness the invitation:

There's no doubt a quid pro quo in the works.  Langley always wanted to be DPW Commish.

We need an administration that pays attention to Civil Service and what's on a Resume - not who is related or married to somebody.  Time for some big changes.  The side advantages is that it will save us a ton of money in taxes.

Dan Fiacco, Supervisor, Trent Tibbits and Larry Lenartz for TB. Does anybody else see the less than invisible hand of DeF in that slate. Nothing changes. And we'll probably see Langley as DPW Commish in an effort to keep him in check. He always wanted that job anyway.

    Things just have to change.

  4. The republican party became dysfunctional the very second DeFruscio became chairman. Lies, stalking, and assorted thuggery became the order of the day.

Langley's incompetence is out there for the world to see. Incapable of effective communication, incredibly bad decision making with regards to staff appointments, violated the equal employment law's and cost us decent taxpayers big bucks, arrogant towards different opinions, flip flop his political allegiances. The guy had the town at his feet and proceeded to win the race to the bottom of the barrel.

  6. Yeah right - Langley for DPW Commish; ask one of the DPW workers if they're going to vote for Fiacco; knowing damn well that could take place. Good work, Dave - you and Jack now have an EXCELLENT chance to win.

Last minute turn of events! Langley turned it around! He went to the fundraiser with wife and proclaimed he wants to run! They had the vote at the fundraiser. Langley got the nod!

    It's Langley, Tibbits, Lenartz!

So where's DeF? Still driving the bus, or has Langley learned something?

Well, this is the same committee that has allowed the joke Defruscio chair it and is the same committee that hasn't filed a financial disclosure with the BOE in a year and a half (oh, and shows an $8k deficit). Another embarrassing group to represent our town.

  12. They forgot the last bullet point on the "Fiscally Responsible to the Residents" (gag) part. After quoting the quote from the NYS Comptroller that stated they couldn't figure out the years 2010 & 2011, they forgot that for 2012, 2013 the experienced financial professionals Keith brags about hiring concluded the same thing. Oh, did you forget that you were the Supervisor who hired and paid nearly $70,000 of tax dollars to find you failed as our CFO because we continued to use our "broken beyond repair" accounting software under your watch, so those years were unauadible as well? Don't you wish we just stayed on the casino topic?

  14. I think the plan was for Fiacco to take it but Casino Keith got his ego stroked when the county big shots showed up to the fundraiser. The interesting part is that the majority of he Repub committee members flat-out rejected Langley's candidacy at their meeting on Wednesday but, for some unknown reason, they didn't vote on it . Then, at the fundraiser last night, in the presence of county officials, they must have held a special meeting with just the committee members who actually attended the fundraiser, and they voted then and there to endorse Langley. Talk about a stacked deck. Was that maneuver even legal? It's a complete sham to have a vote for endorsement at a fundraiser but they did it anyway because that's how they operate, always below board. So, nothing's changed, folks. There are nine (9) candidates for town board this year, possibly 10 if Mike Poorman primaries Honey Bee Keith. I will therefore hang a sign on my front door listing the names of the candidates who need NOT ring my doorbell. First on the list will be Casino Keith Langley.

Not to change the subject here, but what is the latest on the illegal Cooper Ave. house that was built by the Almighty Hart family on 1 Cooper Ave. Is The Chairman of the Zoning Board Jeff Penburn going to continue to sweep this under the carpet for his Hart family friends and allow for a back room approval? Rumors are that Poorman, and ZBA board member Seward are trying to work out an undercover approval with Penburn to take care of one of their cronies. This issue should have been brought before tha Zoning board months ago. CORRUPTION ???

    1. It's not CORRUPTION with a ? mark. It's CORRUPTION with an exclamation mark!!.
Penburn and a member of the Hart family were presumably overheard in public this week as saying, all we need to do is get Poorman elected and we will control the town. That's why Zoning Board Member Seward is pushing for Poorman. Poorman claims he can control CP Matters and CP DiMartino.
Does anyone really believe Poorman resurfaced after 20 years for no reason? If so I have a bridge for sale I'd like to sell you.

Can someone answer that for me?

Next time I need work done on my house don't expect me to follow procedure because with this case 2 wrongs do make a right. I would hope that the rest of the town people follow suit too!!!

  25. Dear Happy, I have a little inside info for everyone. Lenartz is a perfect pick for you know who. They have the same value system. Lenartz went to the Dems years ago and asked to be involved in the election. The Dems trusted Lenartz and involved him in meetings and strategy sessions only to find out he betrayed them and was telling the Repubs everything that was happening. Lenartz did this with the hope he would be given a job, My point is that this tells me all I need to know about his character and it mirrors the character of the person who wants Lenartz on the board. Lenartz is known by many as Larry the rat - a title well earned.

    1. Back to the beginning. We still need some answers about the illegal Plat approval for Thompson Way. The Chair of the Planning Board signed a Plat Approval for that development without a Resolution or a meeting of the Planning Board. This has been raised on at least two occasions before the Town Board, but they have not even acknowledged the complaint. I think this mean that we have some issues with the attorneys associated with both the Planning Board and the Town Board which should be taken up with the Third Department. The PB Chairs action was illegal and there is no record that the attorneys (Officers of the Court) did anything about it.

  28. Michael Poorman is a different kind of man than Keith Langley. He had his own successful business for over 20 years. He served for two terms on the EG town board in the 1990s, so he knows how local govt works. He knows a ton of people in town and he knows how to get things done. His personality is that of a leader, not a follower. He will take a bull by the horns and wrestle it to the ground. He has been working well with the two female board members who are on until 2017. He doesn't care about their gender, he cares about results. EG republican committee members were ambushed last Thursday night when they were lured into what appeared to be a fundraiser and then were pressured into endorsing Keith Langley for supervisor while Langley and his wife were facing them down in the same room. It was a dirty trick and the committee members should not have agreed to vote in that setting. This is the sort of below board antic for which CDeF and his crew are well known. The committee members should have insisted on waiting for a proper meeting so that they could endorse the man they really support...Michael Poorman. Looks like Mike will just have to grab yet another bull by the horns and wrestle it down to the ground primary style. May the best man win.

    1. I guess if you are ok with the tangled web of "INSIDER CORRUPTION" Michael Poorman is your guy. I watched him operate back in the 90's and certainly don't care to see it again. Poorman is a no vote in my home if he should decide to primary. To think the Republican Committee was pressured in any way into a meeting to nominate their choice for Supervisor is laughable. I was at that fundraiser and folks, so was Mr. Poorman, along with Mr. Langley. Mr. Poorman also walked out the door like a child taking his ball and going home when he didn't get his way.

  29. I am absolutly against any candidate who would like to apply knowledge acquired as an insider in the 90's TB. Big spending government contributed to the mess we are in. Understanding the current fiscal crisis and having the guts to fix it is what we need. Not another practiced ol' cronie.

  31. 4:23 p.m. Mr. Poorman was never the whole board, he was one member of a five member board. If Sue Mangold hadn't resigned, she, Malone and Langley would be running the town right now (shutter), leaving Matters and DiMartino out in the cold. Because Mangold's gone, Matters and DiMartino are now 50% of the board, leaving them with an opportunity to make a real, positive difference. Perhaps Mr. Poorman was never afforded that opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 2:45's post referred to Poorman's terms on the 90's TB as applicable experience "knowing how local government works". At 4:23 I stated that experience in local government in the 90's was not the kind of experience needed. The voters who elected Poorman DID afford him the opportunity to make a difference. Consider East Greenbush First. They plan a government where every TB member has the opportunity to make a difference..

I know enough about Keith Langley to know that I will not be voting for him ever again. Poorman's appointment by Langley as his Deputy Supervisor concerns me. I certainly do not want a mini Langley for the next four years,

    2. OTR @ 6:59 p.m. It's always wise to be open-minded. There will be nine candidates this November to choose from. Yes, MP was KL's deputy supe but he quickly fell out of favor with K. when he started questioning and disagreeing with many of his decisions. He was fired after he met with the Republican committee to request endorsement for Supe.

    3. Langley got rid of Poorman, because Poorman was actually taking an active role and not just be another of Casino Keith's puppets. Now as deputy supervisor we have someone who holds many other positions and titles within town government, and is on Keith's reelection committee. Lets remember Casino Keith didn't want the job the first time around, what makes you think he wants it this time...

  33. Neither one of the Rep or Dem establishments represented by Poorman, DeF, Langley or MVW or Malone or McCabe or Tuffey will pull this town out of its problems. They themselves have created the problems and they probably don't even know it. Their world view is one of patronage, nepotism and graft. We need an administration which will not devote itself to self serving. (A famous line from the Stipend scandal from someone who we all know)....."I need it for my pension." She thought it was totally acceptable.

  35. I'm not a fan of Langley's by any means. But Langley was right to fire Poorman as his Deputy Supervisor. Poorman should have voluntarily resigned as Langley's Deputy the moment he started planning to run agains him. That would have been the honorable thing for Poorman to do, instead of plotting against Langley behind his back.
Poorman's duplicitous behavior raises major concerns about his fitness to serve as East Greenbush Town Supervisor.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So let's take a look at the Reps. 1. Langley, enough said. 2. Lenartz pretending to support the Dems, but secretly reporting back to the Reps. and 3. Poorman, collecting a paycheck as Langley's Dep., while planning to run against him for Supe.
Not exactly a collection of open and transparent individuals.

The dems are proceeding with caution at this point, which means they're taking this election and EG 1st candidates VERY seriously but their candidates can't campaign in secret. Eventually, they will be known. The supervisor and his newbies to politics make a mockery of the election process because all three are woefully unqualified to run a town. Really, Larry?? Did you think nobody would notice

Beware, East Greenbush! Judge Keith, that kid by they got, and Larry by the company they keep. The three of them and DeFruscio all need to go. Danny will start to look like the rest of these guys if he doesn't disassociate from them soon.

Just read this article. The councilwomen DID seek meetings but not with Langley. This signifies their vote of no confidence for his performance.

  58. In the Times Union today Langley is quoted as saying that MAM and Deb never asked for info and all they had to do was ask. Is this how we run the Town Board? Info is only given if it is asked for?

    1. This is the "dead giveaway" related to Mr. Langley's management abilities. Matters and DiMartino were excluded from the information distribution chain. They therefore didn't know what they didn't know. At the informational meeting it was very telling that the employees and consultants at the table had stacks of primary information in front of them. But the two Board members with the legal fiduciary responsibility for the disbursement of Town funds had been excluded from the loop. Typical DeF chauvinism. Freeze them out and then just tell them what to do.

      Delete
  59. We should also question how engaged CP Malone has been throughout the WWTP Q. and A. process. Neither he nor Langley attended that meeting on 5/27. Did they vote on those resolutions yesterday fully informed or did they just wing it? It's obvious from board meetings that there has been a serious communication breakdown between the supervisor and the rest of the board members. We need a supervisor who can work effectively with everybody in the commission of town business. Keith Langley falls woefully short of that goal. In his Advt report, Pete Stenson scolded board members for embarrassing and unprofessional behavior but at least two board members are fighting, no demanding, inclusion and not letting this defiant, obstinate, and childish supervisor push them around. Langley will think twice before pulling that garbage again on the "girls" he's supposed to be working with in a professional, adult manner.

    1. I also gave CP DiMartino and Matters props and 'scolded' the administration.

"Documentation underlying the $600,000 in claims was shared with Supervisor Langley, other Town officials, Delaware, Chazen and the insurer, but not with the decision-makers – the voting Councilpersons. Therein lies the rub and CP DiMartino’s and Matters’ hesitancy on 5/20/15.

To her credit, Councilperson Matters has abstained on past resolutions for the lack of sufficient documentation. Supervisor Langley or his staff should provide the Board Members with same so they can cast intelligent, informed votes. If not done, Councilpersons should demand it before the Board Meeting and voice their concerns to the Supervisor, if not already doing so! Fool me once shame on you, fool twice shame on me."

At least you're reading some of my 'reports'.

      Much appreciated.

  60. 12:15 p.m. Your point is well taken. An effective supervisor works WITH people/board members in an effort to get them to support his best recommendations for the town. He's the supervisor! He's there full time. He's supposed to have his finger on the pulse of ALL town business but this supervisor acts indignant over the prospect of reaching out to people. He thinks he's KING so everyone should be reaching out to HIM. Quite frankly, it's become a real problem. The point of a board is for five elected people to put their collective heads together to make decisions for the town. Not only has Mr. Langley made it impossible to fill the vacant board seat, he isn't working effectively with the remaining three board members. The obvious solution is to NOT re-elect him.

    1. This is the beginning of what we are going to be dealing with from the Dem and Rep machines in this election season. They are scared to death that the "operation" which they have been collectively running in East Greenbush is about to end. Some folks have made a good bit of money off this operation, and we know who they are. The easy days for them are about to be over. And they're scared.

      Delete
  62. Gadfly, Langley's band of political miscreants (look it up, Chris) should be scared. For one thing, they do everything wrong! They operate in a self-serving vacuum, even against themselves. At the last meeting of the EG Republican Committee, the members endorsed Larry Lenartz and Trent Tibbits for town board. These men, Tibbits barely out of adolescence, have no education or experience that is relevant to municipal governing...none! What they do have is an abundance of inexperience that Mr. Langley plans to USE to HIS advantage if, by some miracle, they are all elected. Ironically, they made the same mistake with DiMartino and Matters and it has backfired on them miserably. They don't even learn from their own mistakes! At that same meeting, the members of the committee were adamantly AGAINST endorsing Keith Langley for a second term, so CDeF and Danny boy thought it best to postpone the vote. In their infinite wisdom, they waited for the fundraiser to ambush their own committee members by calling a special meeting (yes, at the fundraiser!) to effectively pressure them into endorsing Langley or be shunned by town and county party officials. The members, of course, buckled under the pressure and Langley was endorsed for a second term. Given his poor performance these last three plus years, including blowing his majority to smithereens, it's a shame that he's been endorsed to run for a second term. The committee should have demanded a revote in a proper setting but it's a done deal now. At both fundraisers, they pulled in less than $5,000 and they have three candidates running. How many times can they go to a shallow well for money? Wait 'til they go to Larry and Trent and tell them they each have to cough up $5K for campaign expenses. This should get interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  63. In the not distant past Langley made one of the town board members submit FOILs for basic monthly town financial information. How incredibly arrogant and stupid is that? Seriously, how can town board members make decisions and vote without the information critical to those decisions?

Langley has failed us by every measure of failure.

Please read Jack Conway's "It's About Time" on their web site. Insightful, smart, committed leadership will be all there when we elect Jack and his team.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 4:05 a.m. FACT: Jack and his team need a major and a minor line on the ballot to win. Hopefully, they know that. To think that they are going to reinvent the election process with one third party line at the bottom of the ballot is a fatal mistake. Many people are party loyal. Example: I'm a democrat so I'll vote for the democrats. Many people don't know EG 1st candidates personally or otherwise and so they won't vote for them. Many people who do know EG 1st candidates won't come out and vote for a variety of reasons including that there are no state or federal races this year to draw them out or they are "busy" in other ways (i.e. I have to work late, I'm not feeling well today, or my kid has a soccer game) and won't vote. Getting people to the polls is a huge challenge that should not be taken lightly. Remember when parties used to pay people to vote? EG 1st candidates will need all the ballot lines and all the advantages they can get. Remember, before you can have smart, insightful, committed leadership, you need smart, insightful, committed, campaign advice from the pros who know. Hopefully, they know that.

  66. This blind loyalty to one party or the other is what gets us jerks in perpetuity (look it up Chris). Your reasoning 8:30 am is way off base this year. There are 3000+ people who signed petitions against the casino last year. There are people I have never seen before by the hundreds who have committed time, money and sweat equity to insure that "City on the Hill" did not get built. The people who helped plan and execute the successful "Tags and Treasures" sale last weekend were new people as well. Don't think the outrage is over. It is still there, stronger than ever. What alternatives do we have? A nice guy running a hot dog stand and a complete fiasco one-term do-nothing who calls himself a supervisor. Start running now Langley - and I don't mean running for office.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @Anon 830, I understand and respect your point and know statistically it's not in EG1st's favor, but it is not impossible and it has to been done, If there was ever a time in EG for it to be done this is that time. Many peopke still don't understand the anger and betrayal we've been feeling for years and thousands were awoken to this over the last year. We demand accountability from our elected officials, how about we demand the same for voters. If people want to vote for someone solely for the fact that they belong to a specific party than that is their right, but let's not sugarcoat that action anymore. It's irresponsible. I'm not saying everyone must vote for EG1st (they have our household vote), but do some research on all of the candidates. Voting blindly for specific parties is just as much the problem as the puppets following their higher up party leaders.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The reality is that not everyone who signs a petition votes. There are approx 11,000 enrolled voters in EG. During any given election cycle, up to half of them vote, the other half stays home. There are also those who refuse to vote on principle and/or are not enrolled to vote. The majority of people who signed the no casino petition are not intimately involved with the shenanigans of EG politics. When the casino was awarded to Schenectady, many of your petition signers figured "mission accomplished" and went back to their lives. A good percentage of them don't know the name of the supervisor in EG. It's very hard to upseat a sitting supervisor. EG 1st surely isn't naive enough to think that they've got this thing all sown up with a petition in one hand and one ballot line in the other. Believe me, they don't. I want them to win as much as, if not more, than anyone but they have to play by the rules of the game, we all do! In politics, the time to realize your mistakes is before you lose, not after.

    2. 10:13 I got my info from experience. McCabe was a supervisor whose time had come. He lost in a legitimate election and no one was more shocked that he lost than he was. It was a thing of beauty. The people spoke and they kicked his sorry butt out the door. Langley won in an "anyone but McCabe" election but he won't be so lucky this November. This year, he'll lose in an "anyone but Langley" election. Ahh, you gotta love politics for that reason alone. The day of retribution (look it up, Chris) is always eventually at hand.

  69. Ok with Casino, Not Ok with LangleyJune 6, 2015 at 12:28 PM

It's very interesting that Supervisor Keith Langley, his bus driver, Chris DeFruscio and the EG Republican Committee have still not sent out a press release or made any official announcement regarding their slate of proposed candidates for the upcoming Town elections. Sadly, this just seems to be the latest example of the failed Langley administration's attempt to conduct public business in secret. There's a growing sense that prospective voters are getting tired of the secret Langley way of "handling" things such as toxic sewage spills from the delayed WWTP, the Honey Bee prostitution "spa" and multiple "free" clean fill deposits near Ridge Road.

  71. 11:42 you speak in absolutes as if you you know what people are thinking and what they are likely to do. That is exactly the mistake the two political parties make whenever they conspire against the people's will. EG 1st folks cannot be a part of them and also defeat their practices. EG 1st must stand independently against both brands of failed government because, in the end, the Dems and Reps are the same kind of failures.

  72. @11:42: EG 1st is not guilty of assuming the election is won. I am sure that they will work hard, be wise, listen at doors and gain the confidence of the people. I think you will be very surprised at the turn out this election and the commitment of the voters.

Poop in the Hudson, Junk Bonds, illegal Plat approval for insiders, ignored building codes for insiders, diverted funds for paving, casino conspiracy, stipends, sickleave/longevity payments, no audits, no financial recovery plan, ETC. Save East Greenbush held a chicken BBQ fundraiser this afternoon/evening at Community Gospel Church to raise money to help pay down legal costs associated with keeping Capital View CasiNO out of OUR town. More than 330 families purchased meals, baked goods and made additional contributions to Save East Greenbush. It was truly amazing! Nine committee members recruited spouses, family members, and friends to get the work done and make the event successful, and successful it was! My thanks to our East Greenbush neighbors who purchased dinners and who made EXTREMELY generous additional contributions to the cause, to the committee and all the people who showed up during the course of the day, to Taste of the Town Caterers who cooked up awesomely delicious chicken dinners, and to Pastor Dave and Community Gospel Church for allowing us to use their campus. My apologies to those we turned away because we sold out. We regret that we underestimated your support and look forward to including all of you in our next event!

Not at this time, Mr. Supervisor is all we'll be getting from him now until the end of the year. Good! He can yield his time to CP Matters.
