Supervisor Langley
is making
the claim that he has reduced the millions of dollars interfund
debt in East Greenbush to
$300,000. He is
supposedly doing this with the
“support” of the Annual Update Documents (AUDs) submitted to the
Office of the
State Comptroller. A
couple of weeks
ago, Moodys Investor Service moved East Greenbush from “Junk
Bond” status to
its watch list and then to no rating at all based on the fact that East
Greenbush
has failed to produce certified audits of its submitted AUDs. There is a simple solution. As the Chief Financial
Officer of East Greenbush, Mr.
Langley could certify his submitted
AUDs upon which he is basing his campaign claims and submit them
for audit by a
competent CPA firm.
I believe that the reason East Greenbush
doesn’t have
certified audits for the recent years is that the administration
doesn’t want
to get a “qualified” opinion from the CPA on the financial
statements. The
Independent Auditors Report, Management
Letter and the Notes to the Financials would be a real help in
getting
financial matters in order, but these elements of the audit
report would also
list the failures of management.
That’s
why we don’t have the audits. The
probable
“qualified” opinions from the CPA firm would also expose the
claim of
the Supervisor that he has reduced the inter fund debt. Moodys called his hand, and
he has no cards
to play.
By refusing to aggressively resolve the
Town’s financial
condition issues, Mr. Langley is also preventing the other Board
members from
having the information necessary to exercise their fiduciary
responsibilities
in the management of the Town. Ms.
Matters
and Ms. DiMartino should be pointing that out to the Attorney
General
and the State Comptroller. If
they are
being prevented from performing the oversight provided for by
law, the Attorney
General and State Comptroller should be intervening. Mr. Langley could be
getting dangerously
close to a Financial Control Board.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry, but Dave is a complete Joke... I don't know who's worse him or Langley. When Dave was Commissioner of Public Works the DPW guys didn't do anything & wasn't accountable either. The reason why the guys liked him & don't get that confused with respect, is he allowed them to get away with abusing the system that "WE" pay for. As for Anthony he gets no backing from the "Supervisor" Langley isn't going to tip the boat in fear of losing their votes. Paying "no show job" or "Driving Miss Daisy" Dan Fiacco $47,500 to do nothing is preposterous that's more money that EG doesn't have being thrown away. MAM & Deb are in this not for their own gain, does anyone believe that the bull**** put upon them day in & day out is FUN for them for a measly 10,000??? Really??? they want whats best for the town & that's to work with people like Jack,Tina & Tom that have NO AGENDA & are truly for the people... Wake up!!!
Tonight's Board meeting.....what a circus.
ReplyDeleteAt the board meeting tonite once again autocrat Keith Langley teamed up with Junior Malone to defeat two very important resolutions that would have protected the taxpayers from the closed-minded decisions of Keith Langley. Sitting there, with his perfectly coiffed hair, Mr. Langley lost all control of the room as incivility and disorder prevailed. Ed Gilbert made a damn fool of himself...yes, again...when he got up and started hurling questions at CP Matters like he's still the deputy supervisor. She blurted back, "This is a comment period, NO QUESTIONS!" and the room burst into laughter and even the supervisor said "she got ya, Ed." Eddie's tone got noticeably more sheepish after that. Poor Ed is so nervous about the election that he can't think straight. Who will he worship if Keith loses, and does anybody really care?
ReplyDeleteJack, Tina, Tom on 11/3
With the antics that go on at Town Hall meetings, it is no wonder East Greenbush is such a laughing stock. We need decorum. Jack, Tina &Tom on November 3!
ReplyDeleteThe current town board is a comedy of errors only nobody is laughing. The exorbitant bill that's coming for that white elephant of a sewerage treatment plant is going to have to be paid by, guess who? US...the over-burdoned taxpayers of East Greenbush! But does Langley care? Is he even hooked-up to public water and sewer? He's going to call in another high-priced, politically-favored consultant...Mr. (that's the way it's always been done) Hank LaBarba, who is none other than a Dem hold-over from the McCabe daze and who has no experience with figuring out a utility billing problem of this complexity. But was that enough to get Langley to vote yes for the sewer districts and rate study reso to see who pays what amounts for services? No! Will our sewer and water bills go up a combined 40, 50 or even 60% to pay for a project that was supposed to cost $11 million but will cost more like $15-$16 million when this money pit of a project ends? Folks, we desperately need people in office now more than ever who have the professional experience and backgrounds to tackle these serious problems. Those people are Jack Conway, Tina Tierney, and Tom Grant. If Keith Langley or especially Dave VW win, you might as well put your house on the market and run for your life. On election day, Tuesday 11/3, mark your calendar and go out and vote. Vote for Jack, Tina and Tom and then treat yourself to a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner to celebrate your excellent choices for town leadership. And don't forget to have dessert! You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteElection Day picketing....
ReplyDeleteDave is NOT the answer, he would be another DISASTER....
who's in?
Looks like the only 4 candidates to file their 11 day pre-general financial disclosures are Dave VanWormer and the entire EG1st slate. The Republican Committee of East Greenbush has no failed to file their last 5 disclosures. Which is no surprise since they didn't file any reports for a year and a half.
ReplyDeleteBad idea 1:09 p.m. and not the American way. By election day, citizens have made their choices and that should be respected. An unsportsmanlike display like that could discourage voting, and we don't want citizens who are coming out for Jack, Tina and Tom to turn their cars around and go home without voting. We need to keep our wits about us, stay the course, and see what happens. If the EG1st candidates have worked hard, and we know they have, we should have a completely refreshed town board on November 3rd.
